Blog Title A Journey Worthwhile
Blog Date Saturday, October 20, 2012 by Talking Donkey

We've been blessed to be able to do something we believe in. But, nothing beats the feeling when you hear back from your customers... Words can't tell how much it makes the journey worthwhile. We've been receiving lots of kind words from our customers – whether it's about the website design, the packaging, or the t-shirt itself. These simple, yet sincere gestures remind us, time and time again, to never stop pursuing whatever God puts in our hearts.

Our happy customer, Drew, shared his excitement with us upon receiving his t-shirt. We thought we would share a picture of him (wearing our God Is Good shirt) with his lovely girlfriend at a leadership retreat! Drew, we hope the t-shirt and its message has been a blessing to many - thanks again for sharing!

Blog Title BAY AREA COLLIDE!
Blog Date Thursday, May 10, 2012 by Talking Donkey

It's been a while since we last posted! We have been super busy working on things... Talking Donkey has a super exciting set of plans for the next few months, so stay tuned!

Anyway – last Friday we set up our booth at THE COLLIDE in Fremont, CA. A powerful movement based in Bay Area, Collide visits different places and holds nights of worship and prayer for the current generation. The experience was just A MAZE ING. It was indeed a "collide" in so many different ways: age group, denomination and clearly... RACE! Where else can you see black gospel singers singing at a Chinese church? It was a small glimpse of Rev 7:9 - every nation, tribe, and tongue worshiping together.

God's presence was thick and people were CRAZY with their worship that night. The whole auditorium was shaking with people singing, shouting, dancing, jumping and SOMERSAULTING. Go to their Facebook photo album HERE to see more pics.

Del Augusta then shared a powerful message. I remember this one the most in particular: "In the Old Testament, fire from heaven only comes when there's a sacrifice." For example, read the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 18. And I thought to myself, "Oh my goodness, that's so true!"

A lot of times we believers pray for "new fire, new passion, breakthrough"... But often times we take the "sacrifice" portion so lightly. Hmm... What do you need to offer God as a sacrifice today, you think?

Our first customers of the day (or night?) minus our friend Chris posing in the back. These kids were the coolest! Thank you for your excitement, and of course, for supporting us!!

Mucho love

Karen

Blog Title Songs of Generation
Blog Date Monday, April 02, 2012 by Talking Donkey

What's more awesome than coming together as a city to worship? Last Saturday night, four churches in the Bay Area gathered for an unconventional worship night - we sang songs from the 70s to gospel to contemporary hits. It was undeniably refreshing and there's a strong spirit of joy in that place!

More pictures on Facebook coming soon!

Blog Title JJ Heller & Audrey Assad LIVE
Blog Date Wednesday, March 28, 2012 by Talking Donkey

It was pouring hard on Saturday... Nonetheless, my heart was filled with excitement knowing we're going to watch JJ Heller and Audrey Assad perform!

I listen to their songs day and night, so that's what makes this concert so special. Have you ever heard their music? If you haven't, YOU SHOULD. Personally, I think JJ is awesome in her honesty and empathy that she expresses through her music, while Audrey... Audrey is just genius in capturing human's frailty and their desperate need of God. My current favorite of their songs are: Control and Lament (by JJ and Audrey, respectively).

As you can see, Talking Donkey gave out these special little packets to both of them during the Meet & Greet session. I was soooo nervous when we're invited to come up front. JJ looked genuinely surprised (and actually, pretty ecstatic) when she saw her name crafted on this brown paper bag. Not long after, I was the one who's left speechless when Audrey offered me a hug! I tell you - I was on cloud nine when that whole thing happened. I mean, I listen to her music every day: during shower, before work, during work, on the bus, before church, after church, when i eat.... OK you get my point.

Concert was SUPER! SUPER! AWESOME! Worth. Every. Penny. There's also this dude who played lap steel guitar when Audrey was singing - he officially got me inspired to learn lap steel myself! I think it'll be a great addition to any worship team at church. Waddya think?

After the concert, we got to meet with them again and JJ mentioned that she loved the God Is Good shirt that we gave her! She basically lavished us with compliments and we couldn't be more thankful.

All in all, it's one of the best Saturdays we've ever had this year so far!

Blog Title Event: Meet The Arcadians!
Blog Date Tuesday, March 06, 2012 by Talking Donkey

When you got to go, YOU GOT TO GO!

It took us 6 hours, 350 miles and a lot of oranges (don't ask) to arrive at this super cool church... IFGF ARCADIA. Located 20 mins away from the heart of LA, IFGF Arcadia is a home to countless budding leaders and creative individuals. All we can say is we're blown away by the whole experience, from the praise & worship and the Word to the level of excitement from the pastors and newcomers alike! A lot of people were curious about the t-shirts and brand concept, so we did what we do best: sharing the vision! What's also cool is that we got into some serious talks with several college students and share our experience/struggles of being a Christian at school. But, there's NO DOUBT that these kids are about to make an impact in whatever industries they're in. Their fire is too strong to contain!!

Don't you just love the church decor?

Ps. Mike, the youth pastor. Seems like he's in a dilemma?

The awesome Sarah! Have you seen her rap? It's like Eminem meets 99 rainbows.

Blog Title OOOOOWL MY GOODNESS!
Blog Date Friday, February 24, 2012 by Talking Donkey

"Can somebody please turn down the volume?" is the question that I feel like screaming to the world EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Don't get me wrong: I enjoy my life wholeheartedly. Throughout these 21 years, I have to say that I have been truly blessed. I love my job, my friends, my family, my church... Basically the overall things and almost everyone I encounter daily! But, it's undeniable to say that you can get pretty exhausted from all the craziness that you're exposed to. They can be in the form of things, activities or even people around ya! Craziness can also be in the form of your own mind: do this, that, go here, there, so on and so forth. Twenty four seven. But probably all you ever need is:

S P A C E .

Space to breathe, space to think, space to go back to what the Bible has to offer as your solution. It's nice to remember that, in this ridiculously loud and fast-paced world, we can always, always find rest in His Word. Don't forget to take your rest today!

SO NOISY! In this crazy, fast-paced world, sometimes it takes one to decidedly choose on whose voices to listen to.

Blog Title Event: IFGF Pinole Church
Blog Date Monday, February 20, 2012 by Talking Donkey

Last Sunday we held our very first promo event at no other place but IFGF Pinole. Albeit the rather obscure location for many, it's a special place where HT and I have grown spiritually in the last five years. It's a place where I would call home, actually - full of loving individuals and quirky personalities. HT did the talk of sharing the vision and mission of the business. A huge chunk of it was my experience I faced being a Christian in art school. To my utmost surprise, I almost broke down in tears upon hearing my own story. It was quite embarrassing at first, but at least I was glad to realize that, hey, I was INDEED doing something that I truly believed in.

Then, we rushed to set up a booth right after the talk. It was extreeemely encouraging to see everybody swarming the booth right even before we finished setting up. I have to say that it was a pretty lively experience: some came with a large smile painted on their faces, some even KNEW the title names of the shirts, some were obviously on a huge shopping spree and a few others were caught up in a funny dilemma scenario on which t-shirts to get!

I can't thank all of you guys enough for supporting this vision!

Much love,

K

Blog Title Orders & Musings
Blog Date Saturday, February 18, 2012 by Talking Donkey

Roll out them fresh wrapping papers! Ah - couldn't help but to feel bittersweet to send these babies away. After a long one and a half year since the initial conception, I finally got to adorn the shirts with the packaging and witness them being sent out... for good. Day 2 was exciting: orders kept coming in and HT couldn't stop checking on the website (I don't think that's going to change anytime soon). Anyways, in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the new launch, it finally just sank in me that the road is not getting any easier from this point onwards. Coming up with new ideas, feeding my inspiration bank and studying the Word deeper are just a tiny portion of the bajillion of things that plagued my mind. Yet again, I was comforted by the familiar gentle voice - is not my worth more than the sparrows? The journey has just begun. And yep, there are more orders to fulfill.
